All writers must be readers. I do mean ALL. I often say if you're not a reader then you're not a writer. I like to read a variety of books. Here are some of my favorites:

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova

No One Ever Asked: A Novel by Katie Ganshert

An American Marriage by Tayari Jones

A Man Called Ove By Fredrik Backman

There is a theme to my reading; all of the above are fiction. I love fiction! That doesn't mean I don't read non-fiction.

Here are a couple of non-fiction books I would suggest for now:

The Writer Within by Cecil Murphey

Social Media for Today's Writer by DiAnn Mills and Edie Melson

Now I'll ask you again, what are you reading?

I have a writer friend that insists "A Man Called Ove" is the greatest book she's ever read. Yours is only the second recommendation for this book I've seen. Now I have to read it!

I'm also taking the challenge to broaden my reading (reading ANYTHING is a push-pull for me. Time spent reading is time away from writing, but to make better writing, I need to be reading...argh!) Got "The Fisher Kin" by Paule Marshall, after your post about her. I'll have time on the airplanes (and airports in between) to read. Have already started it, and am enjoying the character portrayals already. Thanks for the recommendations.
